CAG Raps Odisha Govt. For Rs.4713 Cr Revenue Loss During 2013-14 Fiscal

Comptroller and Auditor General of India have rapped the Odisha government for its laxity in revenue collection.

In its report, the CAG detected under assessment and financial losses to the tune of over 4,713 crore during 2013-2014.

The areas form which the government could not realize its dues relate to VAT, Entry Tax, Excise Duty and mining receipts.

The CAG test-checked the records of 174 units in more than 5 lakh cases in these areas before estimating the financial loss to be of more than 4713 crore.

The loss include about 33 crore rupees which was left unrealized from the Central PSU Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd towards cost of coal extracted beyond the approved plan. The CAG report was tabled in the state assembly recently.
