Aged Man Arrested For Alleged Abduction And Sexually Assaulting 11 year-Old Girl

A 52-year-old man was arrested by the police on charges of abducting a 11-year-old girl and sexually assaulting her in Salem district, about 350 km from here recently.

He was arrested and produced in the court and lodged at Salem Central Prison.

The Class VI dropout was living with her aunt and was on her way to a shop in the area, when the accused, Subramani of Thekkampatti, took her to his house and committed the offence.

Subramani, who runs a petty shop, also threatened the girl not to raise an alarm.

Later, the girl revealed the incident to her aunt, who in turn lodged a complaint with the All Women Police Station at Suramangalam in Salem District.

The girl was subjected to medical examination at Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College Hospital.

The police registered a case under Section 9 (m), 10, 11, 12 read with 18 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 and under 362 (abduction) and 506 (ii) (criminal intimidation) of the IPC.
