Opposition Demand CBI Probe Into Suicide Of Agriculture Deptt. Engineeer

Opposition parties including DMK, CPM, PMK and Viduthalai Chiruthalai Katchikal in Tamil Nadu have demanded CBI probe into the suicide of agriculture department engineer Muthukumaraswamy.

On February 20, this year Muthukumarasamy committed suicide after being reportedly harassed for appointment of drivers in his department.

Former Tamil Nadu Minister Agri S S Krishnamurthy and Chief Engineer of Agriculture Engineering Department Senthil were arrested by state Crime branch CID for abetting suicide under IPC 306 and booked under Prevention of Corruption Act. They have been remanded to judicial custody till 17th of this month.

Opposition parties had accused former Minister Krishnamurthy and he was removed from party post by AIDAMK.

Tamil Nadu Crime Branch CID will be approaching the judicial magistrate today , Monday to take them into custody for questioning from the central jail.
