A Company To Be Set Up To Upgrade Railway Stations In Punjab

Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu said that his ministry in coordination with Punjab government would setup a company to upgrade all the railway stations in the state and strengthen their infrastructure.

Amritsar railway station will be given a heritage look and will be equipped with modern facilities.

Prabhu, who was in Amritsar on Sunday to pay obeisiance at the Golden Temple announced that a special train connecting two Takhats would start running daily between Amritsar-Anandpur Sahib from coming Baisakhi.

He said devotees could also listen and enjoy Gurbani in the proposed train.

Speaking to media, he said new trains connecting ‘Four Dhams’ and various other religious places would also be started.

He said the rail ministry is committed to provide required facilties, safety, cleanliness and hygenic food to its passengers.

Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee presented him a memorandum asking to make the weekly train between Amritsar to Nanded in Maharashtra as daily and expand the railway booking center situated near Golden Temple.
