Uber Cab Rape Case : SC Summons Trial Court’s Record , Fixes April 22 For Next Hearing

08 April, New Delhi

The Supreme Court Wednesday summoned a trial court record in the Uber cab rape case. It also asked the counsel for the accused driver in the case to furnish the documents, which are written in vernacular language.

A bench headed by Justice J S Khehar fixed the next date of hearing for 22nd of this month.

The apex court also said that it will lay down a law on whether witnesses can be recalled at the behest of an accused.

The bench was hearing two separate petitions filed by the Uber cab rape case victim and the city police against the Delhi High Court order allowing the accused driver to recall 13 prosecution witnesses, including the victim in the trial.

In December last year, a female executive was allegedly raped by a driver of the Uber cab service in South Delhi. The victim was heading back home when the incident took place at night.
