Legendary Cartoonist RK Laxman cremated with full state honour in Pune

The last rites of legendary cartoonist R K Laxman were performed Tuesday at Vaikuntha cremetorium in Pune with full state honours. His body had earlier been kept near the statue of Common Man at Symbiosis Institute from 10 a.m.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis attended the funeral and announced that the State government will build a memorial as a tribute to R.K Laxman.

Laxman had passed away yesterday.His condition had worsened last Sunday, following which he had been put on ventilator support at Deenanath Mangeshkar hospital in Pune.

He is survived by wife Kamala, herself an author, retired journalist son Srinivas and daughter-in-law, Usha.
Laxman has been famous for his ‘You Said It’ pocket cartoons, featuring the famous ‘Common Man’.
He was born in Mysore. His father was a headmaster and Laxman was the youngest of six sons.
