Seven Security Personnel In Chhattisgarh Killed In Encounter With Maoists

Seven security personnel of Chhattisgarh Special Task Force were killed and 11 others injured on Saturday in an encounter with Maoists near a village in Sukma district in tribal Bastar region.

Maoists had unleashed an attack on a team of Chhattisgarh’s Special Task Force, killing seven personnel and injuring 11 others at village Pidmal between Dornapal and Chintagufa in Sukma district.

Additional Director General of Police R K Vij said security forces engaged the rebels in an encounter which continued for about one and a half hours.

A platoon commander Shankar Rao is among the dead. One head constable and five constables have also laid down their lives in line of duty.

All the injured have been shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Seriously injured six jawans will be airlifted to Raipur for better treatment.

Meanwhile, Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday spoke to Chattisgarh Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh over phone and took stock of situation in Sukma where naxals killed seven security personnel of the Special Task Force.

In a tweet, Singh saluted the bravery of the security personnel who laid down their lives while fighting the Naxals.He also wish for speedy recovery of the injured.
