PM Modi to visit Tamil Nadu and Kerala tomorrow

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive on a day’s visit to Chennai tomorrow. He will inaugurate the second phase of the  Chennai metro rail project costing Rs.3770 crore.  He will also  lay foundation stones for several projects and inaugurate the railway electrification project between Chennai Beach and Athipattu costing Rs. 293 crore.

Mr.Modi will also lay foundation for Kallanai Canal expansion project. The project is estimated at Rs.2640 crore. He will also lay foundation for the discovery project at Indian Institute for technology at Thaiyur.

Security has been stepped up ahead of Prime Minister’s visit to Chennai. It has virtually turned a fortress with the deployment of more than 6000 security personnel.

The Prime Minister will arrive tomorrow morning and will participate in the function to be held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. The Prime Minister will inaugurate the  nine  km long extension of the metro project from Washermenpet to Wimco Nagar which is predominantly an area at North Chennai, a place for small and cottage industries.

Prime Minister will hand over the indigenously designed and developed Arjun Main battle tank MK -1A to the Indian Army. Designed and developed by Combat Vehicles research and development establishment Chennai and DRDO alongwith 15 academic institutions. The army has placed an order for 118 such tanks.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive in Kerala tomorrow to lay the foundation stone and dedicate various development projects to the nation at Kochi. Elaborate arrangements are made in the city to welcome  Prime Minister. Police have banned the flying of drones in the city limits in view of the security arrangements during the PM’s visit.

The Prime Minister will dedicate the Propylene Derivative Petrochemical Project (PDPP) of BPCL to the nation.  It will produce Acrylates, Acrylic Acid and Oxo-Alcohol, which are at present predominantly imported, and is expected to result in saving of about Rs.3700 to 4000 crore per annum in foreign exchange.

Prime Minister will also dedicate to the nation the Ro-Ro Vessels at Willingdon Islands in Kochi.  Ro-Ro service will benefit trade as a result of reduced transportation cost and transit time, and will lead to reduced congestion on the roads of Kochi.

Prime Minister will also inaugurate India’s first full-fledged international cruise terminal “Sagarika” at Cochin Port.  He will  inaugurate the Marine Engineering Training Institute of Cochin Shipyard Ltd, which is  the only Maritime institute in India functioning within a shipyard.  Apart from this, the Prime Minister will  lay the foundation stone of the reconstruction of South Coal Berth at Cochin Port.

Governor and Chief Minister of Kerala, along with Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas will also be present on the occasion.
