Swine Flu spreads in more states , Center comes to the aid

As Swine Flu continues to spread in various parts of the country , the Union Government Monday assured the affected states all possible assistance to deal with the situation.
Forty nine fresh cases of Swine Flu were reported in the national capital Sunday . With this, the total number of cases of the disease has gone up to 488 so far this year while the Swine Flu claimed five lives.
In Telangana, three more persons died due to swine flu during the last 24 hours, while 37 more persons have been tested positive for the virus. The three persons had been under treatment for swine flu at Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad, the state nodal hospital for H1N1. With this, the toll from the virus since January this year in Telangana, has risen to 30. Over 600 persons in Telangana were tested positive during the current season.
In Andhra Pradesh also, several new cases of swine flu have been reported during the last 24 hours. The authorities informed that a Lok Sabha Member from the North Coastal Andhra districts has also been tested positive to the H1N1. Over 30 persons from the state tested positive for the virus while three succumbed to Swine Flu during last month.
In Rajasthan, with the death of nine more Swine flu patients, the death toll has risen to 49. As many as 170 people tested positive of the virus. The former Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Ashok Ghelot is suffering from Swine Flu
According to the health department, 80 samples were taken yesterday, out of which 25 were found positive.
In Gujarat, the death toll due to swine flu infection has reached 38 with the death of one more person in Sidhpur of Patan district. Meanwhile, 39 new positive cases of Swine flu have been registered in the state during the last 24 hours.
Total number of swine flu cases in the state reached 309, out of which 122 patients have been cured. The Health Department has formed 20 teams of Government medical colleges to sensitize the private doctors about swine flu virus.
In Odisha Swine Flu claimed its first victim of the year Sunday. The state Health Department on Monday also reviewed the situation following the first Swine Flu death.
Concerned over the growing incidence of Swine Flu ,Union Health Minister JP Nadda said that the Center was closely monitoring the situation.
He said , all necessary assistance and support are being provided to the affected sates to manage the situation . High level health teams have been deputed to assess the situation and assisting them in tackling the disease.
According to official sources, adequate stock of the medicine and Personal Protective Equipments are available and the Health Ministry has also provided the requisitioned quantity to the affected states to deal with the H1N1 virus.
