Bird Flu Alert In Imphal

The National Institute of High Security Animal Diseases, Bhopal has confirmed the outbreak of Avian Influenza(Bird Flu) at the Poultry Unit of Indian Council of Agricultural Research(ICAR) Regional Office at Lamphelpat in Imphal.

Announcing the outbreak of Bird Flu in Imphal Sunday night , State Chief Secretary PC Lawmkunga said that the epicentre of the outbreak is the Poultry Unit of ICAR Regional Office at Imphal.

All areas within the radius of one kilometer from the epicenter have been declared as infected zone and all areas within the radius of 10 kilometer from the epicenter, surveillance zone.

Government said that all poultry birds within the infected zone shall be culled and buried and compensation for the culled birds will be paid at the rate to be fixed in consultation with the Centre.

Movement or transportation and sale of poultry birds and products including eggs within the surveillance zone have been banned with immediate effect.
