Congress Slams NDA Govt.For Misleading Nation About Crop Loss Due To Unseasonal Rain

The Congress has charged the NDA government with misleading the nation by giving wrong information in the Lok Sabha about the crop losses in the country due to unseasonal rain.

Briefing reporters in New Delhi, party spokesman Shakeel Ahmed said Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh had said yesterday that as per earlier estimation standing crops spread over 181 lakh hectare were damaged but when the Prime Minister Narendra Modi reviewed the situation with the States, it came down to 80 lakh hectare.

Ahmed said, as per government notification, crops spread over 106 lakh hectare have been damaged which contradicts the Minister’s statement.

Ahmed said, it is a matter of breach of privilege and the Congress Parliamentary party will take a call on the issue.

On the issue of Land Acquisition Bill, Mr. Ahmed said his party is in favour of implementing the Land Law enacted by the UPA government in 2013.
