Delhi Police Accuses AAP Of Obstructing Effort To Save Farmer

Delhi Police has accused Aam Aadmi Party of obstructing its efforts to save the farmer who hanged himself at its rally in Delhi Wednesday .

In the FIR, the police alleged that the party workers obstructed it at every step, from the time the farmer climbed the tree, to tying a noose out of his scarf and hanging himself. The FIR also said that the police urged the party volunteers to make way for emergency vehicles and the fire brigade, but they did not allow.

In the Lok Sabha, Home Minister Rajnath Singh also said that policemen at the spot alerted the control room and asked for a fire tender with a long ladder, so that the farmer could be brought down. He said the police tried to stop the crowd from provoking the farmer but they kept clapping and making noise.

On the other hand, the Aam Admi Party has charged the Delhi Police with doing nothing to stop the farmer’s death. Party leader Kumar Vishwas alleged that the Home Minister is conspiring against his party and misleading the Parliament on the incident.

He claimed that it was AAP workers who tried to save the farmer’s life and brought the body to hospital and Police was a mute spectator. Kumar also lashed at the Delhi Police and said government had announced a magisterial enquiry in the case but Delhi Police refused to work with them.
