IPL-08 : Delhi Daredevils Register Win Over Mumbai Indians By 37 Runs

Delhi Daredevils put their professional show Thursday at Feroz Shah Kotla Ground , New Delhi to Win their third win in the ongoing Indian Premier League Tournament

DD beat Mumbai Indians by 37 runs at their home ground . Shreyas Iyer of DD was Man of the Match for his 65 ball 83.

MI won the toss and invited DD to bat first . Chasing Target of 191 put up by DD, the Mumbai Indian were out for 152 losing 9 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.

MI batsmen suffered batting collapse excepting Rohit Sharma30 , Anbati Rayudu ,3d0 and Parthiv Patel 28 , others failed the team. It was Rohit Sharma who looked to up the tempo with a wide array of shots , but one he was out, the MI slipped towards yet another defeat.

The DD’s key bowlers exhibited tight spell with Imran Tahir taking three wickets followed by Angelo Mathews and Amit Mishra bagging two wickets each. The DD bowlers were backed up in the field .

Earlier the superlative batting display from Shreyas Iyer (83) and skipper Jean Paul Duminy (78 not out) helped Delhi Daredevils post a strong 190 for four against Mumbai Indians

The left hand-right hand combination of Iyer and Duminy batted authoritatively to put together a 154-run second-wicket partnership (off 97 balls) to lift the home team’s morale after Mumbai won the toss and sent them in to bat.

They got an early reward when New Zealand pacer Mitchell McClenaghan dismissed Mayank Agarwal (1) off the third ball of the Daredevils’ innings.

But that was the only joy for Mumbai as Iyer and Duminy controlled the proceedings from there on.

They set the tone for the Daredevils’ batting, mixing caution with aggression. They set up a strong platform on which Daredevils could build a strong total.

Iyer was dismissed while trying to increase the run rate in the 17th over.

He hit seven fours and six sixes during his 56-bal stay, contributing 82 runs in his partnership with Duminy.After Iyer’s departure, Duminy took over the mantle of brisk run-scoring.

He was ably supported in the endeavour by Sri Lankan Angelo Mathews (17 off 8 balls).

But Mathews’ wicket, edging a McClenaghan delivery to wicketkeeper Partiv Patel in the 18th over, jolted their big hitting aspirations.

But Duminy still managed to pull Daredevils to their highest total in the tournament so far, tonking three boundaries and six huge sixes.
