Bathing festival of Magh Purnima celebrated in India

The bathing festival of Magha Purnima is celebrated Tuesday. With the bathing festival, one month long Magh Mela congregation came to an end.

Large number of pilgrims have thronged the bathing ghats at Sangam in Allahabad, the confluence of Ganga, Yamuna and mythical Saraswati to take holy dip on the occasion. Mela administration has estimated more than twenty five lakh devotees on the auspicious occasion. Massive security arrangements are in place in and around Mela area.

In Odisha’s pilgrim city- Srikhetra Puri, thousands of devotees took holy dip in “ Mahodadhi” and performed puja in the Lord Jagannath Temple. On the occasion , Lord Jagnnath was decorated with the “Gaja Vesha”.
