Navjot Singh Sidhu to formally assume charge as Cong Chief tomorrow

Chandigarh, July 22

Newly appointed President of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee Navjot Singh Sidhu and four other Working Presidents will formally assume charge tomorrow at the party office in Chandigarh. Mr Sidhu will be taking over from the present incumbent Sunil Jakhar.

Sources said, an invite will be sent to Chief Minister Amarinder Singh to attend the event. The Chief Ministers of Congress-ruled states may also join the event.

Notably, Mr Sidhu and Captain Amarinder Singh have been at loggerheads for the past some time and the Chief Minister had opposed his elevation as Pradesh Congress President. After Mr Sidhu was appointed Punjab Congress Chief, the CM had clearly said that he won’t meet him until Mr Sidhu apologises for his derogatory tweets against him.
