BJP wins majority in Tripura Municipal Elections

BJP won 217 seats out of 222 seats across 13 ULBs (Urban Local Bodies) including Agartala Municipal Corporation in the vote-counting held today at 13 different counting centers across the state. The ruling party has won all the 51 seats from Agartala Municipal Corporation with Agartala.

CPIM could manage to win 3 seats while one seat each by AITMC and an Independent Candidate out of 222 seats for which the election was held on November 24.

Earlier the ruling BJP won 112 seats spread across 20 urban bodies uncontested. No other parties had filed candidates in seven ULBs. A total of 785 candidates took on the fray for the total 334 seats, including Agartala Municipal Corporation (51 wards), 13 municipal councils, and six Nagar panchayats.
