Andhra Pradesh Govt. To Launch New Insurance Programme For Unorganised Labourers

Andhra Pradesh government will be launching new initiatives including a new Insurance Programme for unorganised labourers and transport drivers on the occasion of the May Day Today .
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will be announcing the initiatives formally at the official May Day celebrations being held in Rajhamundry.
Under the new Accident Insurance Scheme, the registered unorganised sector labourers and transport drivers will get a Rs 5 lakh insurance cover. The enrolled will get an accident death insurance of Rs 2 lakh under the Pradhan Mantri Bima Suraksha Yojana by opening a Jan Dhan Yojana account and Insurer will give Rs 3 lakh for which the state government will have an MoU.
The Labour Department will be issuing Smart cards to all those who registered under the scheme to avail benefits of other welfare programmes. The registration of transport drivers and labourers will commence from today, online and also at the E-seva centres. About one crore labourers and 5 lakh transport drivers in the state are expected to be benefited with the initiatives.
The state government is also launching today a portal labour.ap.gov.in to facilitate the initiatives. The government has also taken a slew of labour reforms by brining in an integrated law, AP Integrate Registration Act, 2015.
