Arcelor Mittal Nippon Steels to set up Mega Steel Plant with an investment of Rs.1.02 lakh crore in Kendrapada district of Odisha

Arcelor Mittal Nippon Steel’s (AM/NS) will set up a mega 24-MTPA integrated Steel Plant in Mahakalpara block of Kendrapara district of Odisha with an investment of Rs 1,02,275 crore.

The proposal was approved by the High Level Clearance Authority (HLCA) at its 27th meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today.

Giving details of the proposed mega steel project by AM/NS , a senior official of the Odisha Government said that  the project will create direct employment opportunity  of around 16,000 persons , Besides it will provide  significant indirect employment opportunities through ancillary and downstream industries and services.

Touted as the largest project in manufacturing sector in the country, the official said that the plant would produce 24 MT different grades steel through its green steel technology.

Arcelor Mittal Nippon Steel company in its Mahakalapada complex would also set up a Cement Plant as part of its downstream industries with annual production capacity of 18.75 MT. This would also be the largest Cement Plant in the country, the sources said.

The mega steel plant is slated to be commissioned in seven years time.

The infrastructure to be developed for the Kendrapara projects facility will give a boost to the logistics and overall development of the region. A number of international equipment manufacturers will be stakeholders in this project and catalyse more employment opportunities to the state, the sources said.(Odibizinfo)
