Earthquake Of Moderate Intensity Jolts Andaman Nicobar

An earthquake of moderate intensity jolted little Andaman Island in Andaman Nicobar Friday afternoon.
The tremor measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale occurred at 14.28 hours.The epicenter of the quake is reported to be 135 km southwest of Port Blair.
There is no report of loss of live or property. The epicenter of the quake was 10 kilometer below the ocean floor.
Such tremors occur frequently in the area and today’s tremor was felt only in Little Andaman Island including the small island of Hut Bay, popular with the tourists.
Little Andaman is 125 kilometer of South West of Port Blair. The earthquake comes within a week of the high intensity quake that hit Nepal and adjoining areas including parts of India last Saturday.
