Centre Asks States To Segregate Terrorists From Ordinary Inmates , To Set Up Security Prisons

The Centre has asked the States and Union Territories to segregate terrorists from ordinary inmates as terrorists lodged in prisons are indoctrinating petty criminals to bring them to their fold and use them in their nefarious designs.

The Union Home Ministry’s suggestion came after reports received from Central security agencies.

In a letter to all State governments and Union Territories, the Ministry said there is an immediate need to decongest jails by setting up a security prison for terror accused outside the city.

It further said that if that is not feasible, then very high risk prisoners and other under trial prisoners under the category of terrorists and security suspects need to be segregated effectively from ordinary prisoners within the complexes of Central and District jails.
