Punjab Minister Incites Fresh Controversy Terming Death Of Monga Molestation Victim.” God’s Will”

Punjab Higher Education Minister Surjit Singh Rakhra Saturday allegedly incited a fresh controversy terming the death of the Moga molestation victim, ‘God’s will’.

Rakhra told reporters in Patiala that whatever happened were God’s will and government can only provide security. This has created a flutter amongst public and various political parties.

Condemning the statement, Congress General Secretary in-charge of Punjab, Shakeel Ahmad reiterated party’s demand for a judicial probe into the case so that a fair probe can be ensured.

The girl, along with her mother, was allegedly molested and thrown out of the Bus by molesters said to be in the presence of passengers. The Bus belonged to the ruling Badal family.

Aam Aadmi Party workers are protesting in Moga for action against the company owners and adequate compensation.

Meanwhile, the family members of the teenaged girl have decided not to cremate the girl’s body. They are demanding strict action against the owners of the Bus and cancellation of its road permits.

Moga Deputy Commissioner Parminder Singh Gill told AIR that the government has announced an ex-gratia of 20 lakh rupees to the next of kin and a job to one of the family members.
