3 died, 20 injured as Bikaner-New Jalpaigudi express derails in West Bengal
New Delhi, January 13
The Bikaner – New Jalpaigudi express train derailed near New Domohani railway station in West Bengal on Thursday evening. According to Indian Railways officials, train No. 15633 Up Express left New Domohani station at around 5 PM and while the train was on run in block section between New Domohani and New Maynagori stations, it derailed.
The accident relief train and Medical van have been rushed to the accident site. Railway Board Chairman, V K Tripathi and DG, Safety are leaving from Delhi to site of the accident. High-level Railway Safety inquiry has been ordered into the accident.
Three people have died and 20 injured in the accident. Indian Railway official said, the rescue work is almost complete. Around 35 ambulances had reached the spot and all injured taken to hospital.
Meanwhile, Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced ex -gratia relief of 5 lakh rupees each to the next of the kin of those killed and one lakh rupees to grievously injured and 25,000 rupees to simply injured. Mr Vaishnaw also spoke with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and apprised him about the rescue operations.
