Center To Invest Rs.20,000 Cr In Road Sector For North-East Region : Nitin Gadkari

The Centre will invest a whopping 20 thousand crore rupees in the road sector for the North East this year.
Talking to newspersons in Guwahati on Saturday, Minister for Road Transport, Highways and Shipping Nitin Gadkari said that the Narendra Modi government is committed to develop the infra sector of the region.
He said, his ministry has set a target of constructing 30 kilometer roads every day across the country within 2 years from 12 kilometers at present.
Assuring to develop the inland waterways of the region, Gadkari said that a ship repair facility center will be constructed at Pandu in Guwahati at a cost of 50 crore rupees.
He said that the Centre will bear the cost of state road projects in the North East subject to the approval of environment clearance and land acquisition by the state government. Before wrapping up his 4 day North East visit, Gadkari also attended a review meeting today with Chief Ministers and PWD ministers of the region.
