15 Persons feared Drowned In Narayani River Boat Mishap In UP
04 May, Lucknow
In Uttar Pradesh, more than 15 persons are feared drowned in a boat mishap in Narayani river in Chainpatti village of Kushinagar district.
The incident took place in front of Jabahin Dayal Ghat under Tarya Sujan police station when the boat laden with over 30 people and two tractor trolleys overturned Sunday evening while crossing the river. The nearby villagers had rescued 16 people but nearly 18 persons are still reported to be missing.
Despite all efforts of search, not even one body could be fished out due to darkness. Now once again the divers have been pressed into service but still there is no success. Local MLA Ajay Kumar Lallu is also present at the spot, besides, DM and SP of the district.
Most of the persons on the boat were farmers who were returning to their houses after completing their agricultural works across the river. The authorities have launched a combing operation to fish out the bodies, but without any success so far.
