Polling concludes for 7th and last phase of assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh; 54.18 % recorded till 5 PM

Polling completed peacefully for the seventh and final phase of elections in Uttar Pradesh. In the phase, 54 seats of 9 districts of state went for poll. The 9 districts which went for poll are Mau Ghazipur Jaunpur Varanasi Azamgarh Bhadohi, Chandauli  Mirzapur and Sonbhadra. In the wake of the Covid pandemic all necessary arrangements were made for the free fair and corona free polling.

AIR correspondent reports that long queues were seen from early morning at the polling booths which indicated the enthusiasm of the voters In this phase of elections. Barring few sporadic incidents voting was peaceful in seventh phase. It was last phase of elections and Voters came out in large numbers to exercise their franchise.

This phase has decided the political fate of prominent leaders including ministers of the state government Neelkanth Tiwari, Anil Rajbhar, Ravindra jayaswal, Sangeeta Balwant Bind and Girish Yadav and leaders from opposition Omprakash Rajbhar who is head of Subhashpa party and contesting from zaheerabad seat in Gazipur district, bhimraj bhar who is state president of bahujan Samaj party and contesting from Mau Sadar seat and Durga Yadav who is a prominent Samajwadi party leader. polling took place on assembly seats of Varanasi and Azamgarh districts which are considered stronghold of BJP and Samajwadi Party respectively.
