Bus Catches Fire Killing 50 Passengers in Panna District Of Madhya Pradesh

At least 50 people were killed and 15 injured when a bus with 65 passengers overturned and caught fire in Panna district of Madhya Pradesh Monday.

The accident took place near Bhairontek Ghati about 20 kilometers away on National Highway 75 from district headquarters. District administration has confirmed 50 deaths .

Eye witnesses said the bodies have been burnt so badly that it is difficult to identify them. The ill-fated bus was going to Panna from Chattarpur. It is suspected that some inflammable material was kept in the bus.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has announced ex-gratia of two lakh rupees to the relatives of each deceased and 50 thousand rupees to each to seriously injured. He has also ordered a magisterial inquiry into the accident.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the bus accident in Panna district of Madhya Pradesh. The Prime Minister conveyed his condolences to families of those who lost their lives in the incident. In his message, Modi also wished for the speedy recovery of the injured persons.
