GST Bill To Be Taken Up For Consideration In Lok Sabha Today

The long-pending Bill on the Goods and Services Tax, GST, has been listed for consideration and passage in Lok Sabha today, Tuesday .

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had said, the GST Bill, will simplify the tax regime and contribute significantly for the growth of country’s economy. He had expressed hope that GST can lead to 2 per cent increase in GDP.

The opposition had accused the government of changing its stand and has demanded that as the Bill contains many new provisions, it needs to be sent to Standing Committee for thorough discussions.

Congress had said, there is no consensus among the states and the proposed legislation may lead to revenue loss to several states.
