AAP MLA Jarnail Singh Declared Absconder In Assaulting MCD Engineer Case

Aam Aadmi Party MLA Jarnail Singh’s anticipatory bail application was rejected Tuesday . He is accused of assaulting an engineer of Municipal Corporation of Delhi, MCD.

Talking to media in New Delhi, Delhi Police Commissioner B S Bassi said that Singh has been declared as an absconder. He hoped that Singh will surrender soon. If the MLA does not surrender he will be arrested.

Last month, Junior engineer of MCD Azhar Mustafa, had alleged that he had gone to Krishna Park area in the locality to demolish an illegal construction when the locals obstructed him from carrying out his duty. Mustafa alleged that AAP leader Jarnail Singh along with others prevented the MCD team from carrying out the demolition and bashed him up.

Mustafa claimed that the municipal corporation had all the necessary clearances to carry out the demolition but Mr Singh tore up the papers when they were shown to him. The engineer later filed an FIR against the MLA in Tilak Nagar police station.

However, Singh has rubbished the claims made by the engineer. He said that no notice was served to the owner of the property. The MLA has filed a counter complaint against the engineer.
