Punjab police Registers Case Against Tushar Gandhi For Controversial Statement On Bhagat Singh

Punjab Police has Sunday registered a case against Mahatma Gandhi’s great grandson Tushar Gandhi for making controversial statement against Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh.

Jalandhar Police registered a First Information Report (FIR) against him following a complaint made by an NGO, Jan Jagriti Manch.

AIR Jalandahr correspondent reports that the NGO President Kamalkant Sharma complained that Tushar Gandhi has been quoted in the media saying that martyr Bhagat Singh was a “criminal”.

The NGO demanded his immediate arrest.

According to news reports, Tushar Gandhi had allegedly said in Jaipur that Bhagat Singh was guilty of English rule.

According to him, Bapu did not support a criminal. That was the reason why Bapu never recommended to the English government to end Bhagat Singh’s sentence.

However, he did recommend to reduce his sentence.

Jalandhar Police Station House Office Bimal Kant told AIR that a case under section 295 A has been registered against Tushar Gandhi and investigation is on.
