Merger Of Erstwhile Janata Parivar Parties Not Possible Before Bihar Assembly Polls : Samajwadi Party

Samajwadi Party General Secretary Ram Gopal Yadav on Sunday said that the merger of the erstwhile Janata Parivar parties is not possible before Bihar assembly polls due to technicalities.

Talking to reporters in New Delhi, Yadav said the best course of action for the Lalu Prasad-led RJD and Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) would be to fight the upcoming Bihar Assembly polls , under a seat-sharing arrangement.

He said the parties will lose their election symbols if they merge now and that would cause confusion among voters.

AIR correspondents reports that the merger of the Janata Parivar parties was announced last month with a declaration that Samajwadi Party Chief Mulayam Singh Yadav will head the new entity.

The name, symbol, flag and other details were left to a six-member committee which included JD(S) Chief H D Devegowda, RJD Chief Lalu Prasad, JD(U) Chief Sharad Yadav, Ram Gopal Yadav of SP, Om Prakash Chautala of INLD and Kamal Morarka of Samajwadi Janata Party.
