Ayush Ministry announces setting up of Academic Chair in Ayurvedic Science at Western Sydney University

New Delhi, November 22

The Ministry of Ayush has announced the setting up of the Ayurveda Academic Chair at Western Sydney University’s NICM Health Research Institute for a period of three years. The Ministry has selected All India Institute of Ayurveda, New Delhi’s Associate Professor Dr. Rajagopala S. for the post of Academic Chair in Ayurvedic Science at Western Sydney University.

In this regard, Ayush Secretary Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha met the Australian delegation led by Western Sydney University Vice Chancellor and President Prof. Barney Glover in New Delhi. On this occasion, Mr Kotecha said that this chair will strengthen India’s collaborations in promoting academic and collaborative research activities in Australia.

He said, this will also help in translating the research outcomes to integrate it with the public health care delivery system to have credible evidence of Indian scientific practices. Prof. Glover acknowledged that this collaboration will help in bringing together western medicine and ayurvedic science.

AIR reports that the Academic Chair will undertake academic and collaborative research activities in Ayurveda. It Includes herbal medicine and yoga, as well as design academic standards and short-term or medium-term courses and educational guidelines. It will provide academic leadership in demonstrating and fostering excellence in teaching, research and policy development related to Ayurveda, within the robust Australian regulatory framework.
