Controversial Land Bill Referred To Parliamentary Joint Committee For Consultation

The Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (Amendment) Second Bill-2015 has been referred to the Joint Committee of Parliament for wider consultations.
A resolution to this effect was unanimously adopted by the Lok Sabha after a four-hour discussion Tuesday evening.

The Committee will have 20-members from the Lok Sabha and 10 from the Rajya Sabha. It has been mandated to submit its report by 1st day of the first week of the Monsoon Session.

Intervening in the discussion on the bill, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu assured the House that the government will not acquire an inch of land for private companies and will not do anything which hurts farmers.
