ABVP activists show black flags to Kanhaiya Kumar, ransack podium

The ABVP activists Monday showed black flags and shouted slogans at former JNU student Union President Kanhaiya Kumar here.
Kanhaiya was here to attend the ‘Azadi Samavesh,’ organsied by the All India Students Federation (AISF), to celebrate the completion of 80 years of the organisation. The protestors earlier burned a poster and damaged a portion of the podium. Police detained around 10 persons in connection with the incident.
Kanhaiya was taken in a procession from Master Canteen to the venue of the meeting.Addressing the gathering, the former JNU chief said some ABVP friends were protesting against him and he welcomed them, as everybody has a right to protest. But ”when I protested, I was put behind bars and called anti-national,” he said and asserted that he was not an anti-national, but anti-communal and continued to fight against the communal forces, poverty and unemployment.Coming down heavily on Prime Minister Narandra Modi, the student leader said, ”one leader, one colour and one party” will not work in the country, which has diverse opinions.
said BJP has been elected with 31 per cent of votes and it should understand that 70 per cent of people in the country have different opinions and that should be respected.Kanhaiya was also critical of ‘Sabka Saath and Sabka Vikash slogan,’ stating that nothing has been done during the last two-and-a-half years and only a few people like Adani and Ambani have benefited. He said Dal scam was the biggest scam in the country, much bigger than 2G scam, yet the government did nothing.
Modi, he said, had promised to provide two crore jobs, but only 1.35 lakh jobs were created during the last two-and-a-half-year rule and criticised the Modi government for resorting to propaganda politics.
