Cyclone Fani intensifies into severe storm
New Delhi, April 29 :
Fani has intensified into a severe cyclonic storm on Monday evening.
It is expected to gather more steam on its way and become a very severe cyclonic storm by Tuesday morning.
On Thursday noon, it has the potential to become an extremely severe cyclonic storm, as informed by India Meteorology Department IMD.
The severe cyclonic storm Fani has been observed to be moving at a speed of 5 kilometers per hour in the last six hours in the northern direction. It was laying centred at about 810 kilometres East-South-East of Chennai and 950 KM from Machilipatinam coast.
The weather system is expected to move northwestwards till Wednesday and thereafter recurve in the north-northeast direction facing Odisha Coast.
Light to moderate rainfall at many places with heavy falls at isolated places is forecast over Kerala tomorrow. Light to moderate rainfall at few places is very likely over north coastal Andhra Pradesh and south coastal Odisha on 2 May.
Rain is likely to increase in intensity with heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over coastal Odisha and adjoining districts of north coastal Andhra Pradesh from 3rd May.
Light to moderate rainfall at many places with heavy falls at isolated places is also very likely to commence over coastal districts of West Bengal from 3rd May, as said by the Meteorological Department.
