More than 80 % owners of houses under PMAY urban are women says PM Modi

At the inauguration function of the New Urban India: Transforming Urban Landscape Conference – cum-Expo today at Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that more than 80 percent owners of the houses under PMAY urban are women and UP government is giving rebate of registration fee in case of a women buyer.
In his speech, the Prime Minister said that people of UP better understand the difference between the UP before 2017 and UP after 2017. Now UP has the will power for urban development.
Mr. Modi also said that the 21st century India will move with the power of multi model connectivity and many schemes and infrastructure projects run by the central government are giving thrust to urban development and generating employment in the country.
The PM said that the maximum use of technology will transform the urban development scenario. The major changes in urban areas came with technology and things like CCTV. Integrated command centres, STP and waste management brought big change along with them.
The PM said that his government has made efforts to solve the problems of the middle class by bringing RERA into action so that the middle class can buy his dream house. The rules related to work from home during covid scenario made life easy for the urban population.
The PM said that people were apprehensive when our government started many infrastructure development projects but it has become a reality now. Today we are making so many houses that are more than the population of some countries, he added. He said that previous governments approved only 13 lakh houses under the PMAY and only 8 lakh houses were actually constructed. Now his government has given approval of more than one crore 13 lakhs and even more than 50 lakh have actually been delivered to the beneficiaries.
On the occasion the Prime Minister launched 75 urban projects for Uttar Pradesh. The Prime Minister handed over the keys of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban houses to 75,000 beneficiaries digitally in 75 districts of state and also interacted with the beneficiaries of the scheme. Union Housing and Urban affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, Defence Minister and Local MP Rajnath Singh, Governor of state Anandi Ben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath along with other ministers were also present on the occasion.
Union Housing and Urban affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said that the demand for houses under the PMAY Urban have increased manifold after the Yogi Government came into power. Now Cities like Lucknow, Kanpur and Varanasi have more loan applicants under the scheme than Delhi and Mumbai. He said that UP now has 82 km metro rail network and 67 km was made operational during the Yogi Government. Air connectivity has also improved phenomenally. Earlier only 4 airports were there in Uttar Pradesh in 2014, out of which only 2 were operational, now the state has 8 operational airports.
Defence Minister and Local MP Rajnath Singh said on the occasion that today the country is moving towards urbanization and our government is committed towards development of smart cities which have Housing for All and Sustainable Mobility which will promote Livelihood Opportunities.
Listing the achievements of Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that UP has achieved many milestones in the last 4.5 years in the field of urban development. Out of 6 light house projects which started in the country, one was in Lucknow and many families will get keys to these houses today which are made with new technologies. He said that Metro trains will start running in Kanpur from November.
The Conference-cum-Expo will be open to the public for the next two days from tomorrow and 7th October 2021. After the inauguration session, discussions on new and emerging technology in urban areas are also being held through seminars and webinars across different sessions and best practices in urban development from across the country are being discussed.
