Noted Hindustani vocalist Pandit Damodar Hota Passes away: Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik expresses grief

Veteran Odissi  and Hindustani classical vocalist and musician Pandit Dr Damodar Hota  passed away late at night on Saturday. He was 87.

He was suffering from cardiac ailments over the past few years. Last night, he succumbed while being rushed to a private hospital here.

Hota is recognised as a Guru in Hindustani as well as Odissi classical singing. He was also a musicologist and composer.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday expressed grief at the demise of Hindustani vocalist Pandit Damodar Hota.

“His contributions to Indian classical music will be ever remembered by posterity,” said the Chief Minister in a statement.

He conveyed his sympathies to the bereaved family of the artiste. BM
