Odisha CM Mohan Majhi disburses Rs 1,025 crore assistance to over 51 lakh farmers under CM Kissan scheme for Kharif Season

On the occasion of “Akhya Trutiya” ,Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday transferred Rs 1,025 crore to over 51 lakh farmers Bank account under the CM Kissan assistance scheme for Kharif Season through DBT.
This initiative will benefit 16,938 marginal and small farmers, 49,482 landless agricultural families, and 2,382 tribal farming households across the state.
The assistance was extended to urban farmers for the first time, covering 25,532 individuals in this category. The financial aid aims to ensure seamless agricultural activities in the state, enhancing livelihood opportunities and food production capacity.
Shri Majhi disbursed the financial assistance to farmers after performing traditional ploughing ceremony ‘Akhi Muthi Anukula’ marking the beginning of seed sowing in paddy fields at the OUAT agricultural farm in Baramunda in Bhubaneswar.
Addressing the state-level “Krushak Divas” on the occasion Chief Minister said ,the scheme boosts farmers’ income and helps them prepare for the cropping season. The amount is provided in 2 instalments under this scheme. One instalment is given today, and the other will be given on the occasion of ‘Nua Khai’. This financial aid helps them to work…It increases their income,” CM Majhi said.
The Chief Minister said that state government has launched a “Krushi Vidyanidhi” scholarship scheme to help the children’s of CM Kissan beneficiaries to undertake technical and professional education.
He said that state government has targeted to provide irrigation to 15 lakh hectares of land .
Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo praised the government’s dedication to farmers’ welfare, emphasizing plans to boost agricultural exports and market linkages to ensure fair crop prices for cultivators.
