Odisha Govt. Postpones Class 10, 12 board exams amid COVID-19 surge

In view of the soaring COVID-19 cases,Odisha Government on Thursday postponed Class 10 and 12 Board Examinations .However , there will be mass promotion for the Class-9 and 11 students for the current academic year.
Taking to Twitter , the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s office said , “ keeping in view the health security of the students amid the Corona situation , CM has ordered the postponement of the Class-10 and 12 Bord Exam . All the class 9 and class 11 students will be promoted to the next classes”.
Students of Class 9 and 11 in the academic year 2020-21 will not have to take annual exams , the Chief Minister’s Office clarified.
The Chief Minister had directed that all schools and hostels in the state would be remained closed from April 19 due to the prevailing situation. The order will also be applicable to all the English Medium Schools.
A decision on the new dates of the exams for the class 9 and 12 will be taken after reviewing the coronavirus situation at appropriate time. Students would be given adequate time for preparation before announcement of the new date of exams, CMO’s office said.
According to Health Ministry, Odisha reported 1,259 new COVID-19 cases, 523 discharges, and 2 deaths on Thursday.
