Odisha Govt. successfully combats severe cyclone Dana & achieves zero casualty target: CM Mohan Majhi

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Manjhi Friday said that state government was successful in combating the severe cyclone “Dana” and confirmed that the target of zero casualty was achieved due to proper planning, preparedness and execution.
Speaking to the media after reviewing the post landfall situation of the cyclone “Dana”,Manjhi said “there has been no report of any casualty anywhere. We have achieved the target of zero casualty due to proper planning, preparedness and execution by the administration”.
“We have shifted more than six lakh people to safer places with proper coordination as precautionary measure to minimise the impact of cyclone and to ensure zero casualty target, asserted Chief Minister Majhi.
Airport service have become normal in Bhubaneswar. The first flight in the landed in the Bhubaneswar airport at 9 a.m. today. Train services also resumed, he said.
Chief Minister said that all road blockage would be cleared and electricity restoration work in the cyclone affected areas today.
Dana has affected the electrical infrastructure of Bhadrakh, Kendrapada, Jagatgsinghpur, Balasore, Mayurbhanj and Jajpur districts. DISCOMs have been asked to restoration work in war footing.
Chief Minister said that all the concerned district collectors were asked to assess the loss of property due to the cyclone Dana. Meanwhile the Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari said that initially cyclone loss assessment would be undertaken by Drone.
The cyclone, which brought heavy rain and strong winds to the coastal districts, caused minor infrastructural damage, including uprooted trees , damage of vast paddy field and disrupted power lines.
The cyclone Dana made landfall between Bhitarkanika and Dhamra in Odisha and IMD confirmed that Cyclone Dana has completed its landfall process along the Odisha coast.
It is likely to move north-north westwards across north Odisha and weaken gradually into a deep depression during the next six hours, said IMD.
“The Severe cyclonic storm “Dana” crossed north Odisha coast close to Habalikhati Nature Camp (Bhitarkanika) and Dhamara during 0130 hrs IST to 0330 hrs IST of today, 25th October as a Severe cyclonic storm with a wind speed of 100-110 kmph gusting to 120 kmph,” IMD said
