Odisha to plant record 75 lakh saplings in a single day on PM Modi’s 75th birth day tomorrow.

The Government of Odisha has set an ambitious target of planting more than 75 lakh saplings in a single day in commemoration of the 75th birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday – tomorrow said state Forest Environment and Climate Change Minister Ganesh Ram Singhkhuntia.

Singhkhuntia told newsmen here that the plantation programme would be taken up as part of the national tree plantation campaign “Ek Ped Maa Ke Nam 2.0″under which 1.5 crore sapling will be planted in a single day.
He said with the aim to plant 75 lakh saplings on Wednesday Odisha Forest Department will achieve major milestone with 4.7 crore saplings planted in last 45 days. This initiative will help make the state greener and more climate-resilient said the Minister.

He said explained trees are very important for life on earth. They help reduce pollution , improve the environment, stop climate changend protect all living beings.

Stating that the plantation programme on PM’s birth day would be taken up on election mode, the minister said that forest department would take good care to grow healthy trees with special focus on Industrial areas like Jharsuguda, Talcher and Kalinga Nagar and places with less rainfall and dry land.

He said that special attention has been paid for community participation, sapling maintenance and Meri LiFE portal documentaion. Government has invited everyone-includingpanchayats,school and college students, anganwadi and ASHA workers, Women SHGs, volunteers, officials of all departments. He requested all the participants to upload photos of their plantation activities on “Meri LiFE” portal so the progress can be tracked easily.
