Quad Nations Condemn Terrorism, Express Condolences for Red Fort Incident

India, Japan, Australia, and the United States unequivocally condemned terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, including cross-border terrorism and expressed their condolences for the Red Fort terror incident.
The two-day 3rd Quad Counter Terrorism Working Group meeting was held between members from India, Japan, Australia, and the United States in New Delhi on the 4th and 5th of this month. During the meeting, the Quad member countries exchanged assessments on the terrorism threat landscape, including developments in the Indo-Pacific region.
The members also underscored the importance of ensuring that the Indo-Pacific remains open and free from the threats of terrorism. They also reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in multilateral forums. During the meeting, emphasis was laid on the value of continued information sharing on terrorists, terrorist organisations, and their proxies.
Delivering the keynote address, Secretary West, Ministry of External Affairs, Sibi George stressed the need for forging a common resolve within the Quad to combat the scourge of terrorism. The Secretary also urged all Quad members to take necessary steps to make the Quad CTWG a more resilient, robust, and action-oriented working group.
The meeting was led by the Joint Secretary for Counter Terrorism, Ministry of External Affairs, including ambassadors from member countries. A tabletop exercise on counterterrorism operations in the urban environment was conducted at the meeting.

Election Commission Distributes Over 50 Crore Enumeration Forms in SIR Phase 2

The Election Commission today said more than 50 crore 93 lakh enumeration forms have been distributed among electors since the launch of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) Phase 2. It is 99.93 per cent of nearly 51 crore electors that will be covered in this phase.
The commission said that nearly 49 crore forms have been digitised so far. The second phase of the SIR of electoral rolls commenced on the 4th of this month in nine states and three union territories. The states and UTs are Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Puducherry, Lakshadweep, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
The large-scale revision of the electoral rolls will conclude with the publication of the final voter list on 14th February next year.
