Railways to operate twelve thousand special trains during upcoming festivals
New Delhi, September 23
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that for the convenience of passengers, twelve thousand special trains will be operated during Diwali and Chhath festivals. Addressing a press conference in New Delhi today, Mr Vaishnaw said that these special trains will run from 1st October to 15th November.
He informed that last year, seven thousand 750 special trains were operated during the Diwali and Chhath festivals. The Minister also said that ten thousand trains have been notified and 150 fully unreserved trains will be kept ready for rapid deployment in the last minutes.
The Minister said that 29 divisions of railway have achieved 95 per cent punctuality in train operation. These divisions include Malda, Nagpur, Kota, Ranchi, Jaipur, Rajkot, Bikaner and Ahmedabad. Mr Vaishnaw said that the Ministry of Railways is striving to achieve 100 percent punctuality in all 70 divisions.
