10 Labourers Charred To Death, Five Injured In Ramban Fire

At least 10 labourers were killed and five others got injured during wee hours today when a temporary structure housing them caught fire in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir.

“A devastating fire broke out at a time when workers were sleeping inside a temporary structure. It was erected by a company for labourers engaged in construction of a tunnel in Dalwas area of Ramban,” Randeep Kumar, SSP Ramban here said.

Kumar said 10 people died and five others got injured.”The reason of fire is being ascertained while the injured have been rushed to the district hospital and more details are awaited,” said the top cop.

However, the deceased so far identified as Rohit R/ o Punjab (JCB Operator), Showkat R/ o Chandigarh (JCB Helper), Irfan R/o Thathri, Doda (Contractor), Des Raj R/o Drabshala (Pump operator) and Rakesh R/o Himachal (Cat opetator).The matter is being investigated, police added.
