2 BSF personnel martyred in encounter with Naxals in Chhattisgarh

Two Border Security Force personnel were martyred while four others sustained injuries, two of them critically, during exchange of fire between the patrolling force and the Maoists in Kanker District’s Chhotebetia area under insurgency-hit Bastar Divisioin .

“The incident took place when patrolling party was returning last night. The Naxals ambushed the force after which police retaliated. The gunbattle continued for about an hour in which BSF personnel Vijay Kumar and Rakesh Kumar were martyred,” Kanker Superintendent of Police Jitendra Meena said.

The injured were identified as Jagdish Kumar Kama, Manoj Kumar Kama, Sisendra Thomas and Pappa Kathnam. All were referred to Raipur for treatment.
