20 Congress MLAs Suspended From Gujarat Assembly For The Day

Twenty Congress MLAs were suspended for a day from the Gujarat assembly Monday after they rushed to the well of the House demanding discussion on loss occurred to farmers due to recent unseasonal rains.

Earlier, the House was adjourned for more than 40 minutes on the same issue. Congress chief whip Balwantsinh Rajput Monday demanded in the House that there should be immediate discussion on losses suffered by farmers due to unseasonal rains and hailstorm in the last few days.

However, Speaker Ganpatsinh Vasava told him that his ‘urgent attention call notice’ to discuss the issue has been accepted and he would schedule the discussion in next couple of days.

However, the opposition members insisted on their demand for immediate discussion which was refused by the speaker. After that, about 20 MLAs of the Opposition party rushed to the well of the House shouting slogans and carrying banners against the state government. Speaker suspended all the 20 Congress MLAs, who had rushed to the well of the House, for a day.

The Speaker had to call marshals to evacuate them from the house. Later, leader of the opposition Shankarsinh Vaghela along with some other Congress MLAs staged walk out on the same issue.
