20 Red Sanders Smugglers Killed In Encounter Near Tirupati

At least 20 persons involved in the smuggling of Red Sanders were killed in an encounter near Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh Tuesday morning.
State Deputy Chief Minister China Rajappa said the task force of the Andhra Pradesh Special Police carried out the operation on receiving information about the smuggling activity.
He said, all of them hailed from Tamil Nadu. He said, about 100 smugglers indulged in illegal cutting of red sanders trees this morning at two places near Tirupati.
The task force personnel opened fire when the smugglers attacked them. The DIG of Tirupati Range Kanta Rao said some of the police personnel sustained injuries and details are being collected.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu reviewed the situation with the Director General of Police in Hyderabad.
