DMK offered Rs 500 cr, 80 seats to Vijayakanth for poll alliance: Vaiko alleges

People’s Welfare Front (PWF) Coordinator Vaiko Friday claimed that the “DMK offered Rs 500 crore and 80 seats to DMDK Chief Vijayakanth to form an alliance with his party for the upcoming Tamil Nadu assembly elections.”

Talking to newspersons here, Vaiko said the BJP also offered so much money, a Rajya Sabha seat and even a Minister post in Union Cabinet to Vijayakanth to clinch an alliance with his DMDK. But, despite both these parties offering huge money and seats, Vijayakanth had shunned them aside.

“Vijayakanth vows to fight against corruption and that is why he refused to accept these offers and joined the PWF,” the MDMK supremo said.

Vaiko said an election campaign conference of PWF would be held at Chennai on April 20, in which leaders of all constituent parties, including Vijayakanth would participate.

Exuding confident that the PWF would emerge victorious in the ensuing assembly elections, Vaiko said they will provide a corruption-free governance, clean administration, generate employment opportunities and protect the interests of farmers and fishermen.

It may be recalled that the DMDK led by Vijayakanth entered into an electoral pact with PWF on Wednesday and was subsequently declared the Chief Ministerial candidate, amidst reports that it (DMDK) was negotiating with DMK and BJP. Vijayakanth categorically denied such reports and said he had aligned with people to fight the elections.
