Droupadi Murmu To Take Oath As Jharkhand Governor On May 18

The Goveror-designate of Jharkhand Droupadi Murmu will take oath of office on May 18. She would be administered the oath of office at a function to be held at the Birsa Mandap of the Raj Bhawan by Jharkhand Chief Justice Virendra Singh.

Raj Bhawan sources Friday said that the function has been scheduled for 1000 hrs.

Sources said that Ms Murmu would be arriving in Ranchi on May 17. Meanwhile, Dr Syed Ahmad, who has been made the new Governor of Manipur,Friday left for the state. He took over as the Governor of Jharkhand on September 4, 2011.

It was during his tenure that Presidents Rule was imposed in the state from January 18, 2013 to July 12, 2013. In his tenure, the vice-chancellors and pro-VCs were appointed in the universities of the state.
