Over 2.22 Lakh Accounts Opened Under Sukanya Samridhi Scheme In Tamil Nadu Central Postal Region

Over 2.22 lakh accounts have been started under Sukanya Samridhi savings scheme in the central postal region in Tamil Nadu.

Sukanya Samridhi scheme called in Tamil Nadu as Selva Magal Semippu Thittam has caught the imagination of people especially the lower and middle income group.
Rejina Begum mother of one year old girl Mokasina says that the minimum deposit of Rs 1000 is within the reach and the scheme is very useful.
The option of withdrawing 50 per cent of the deposit when the girl attains the age of 18 is quite useful for higher education or marriage related expense.
The account will get matured after 21 years from the date of opening of Sukanya Samridhi account.
This scheme has indeed brought new hope into the life of girl child and an impetus to their financial empowerment.
