J&K Govt. Not To Allow Hurriyat Conference Sponsored Public Rally Rally

Jammu & Kashmir authorities have decided not to allow Mirwaiz Umar Farooq led Hurriyat Conference sponsored public rally today at Eidgah in downtown Srinagar, to commemorate the death anniversary of alleged Hawal killing victims, Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Farooq and Abdul Gani Lone.
The Hurriyat has also called for Kashmir wide shutdown today. The killings of Mirwaiz Mohammad Farooq in 1990 and that of Late Abdul Gani Lone, in 2002 are still mysterious in public domain with no public acceptance by any militant outfit in Kashmir though militants are blamed for the same.

Meanwhile, despite the house arrest of APHC Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Awami Action Committee yesterday continued with the “Hafta Shahadat-Martyrs Week” programme by organizing a rally of AAC activists, workers and leaders at its party headquarters. In a telephonic address to the rally, Mirwaiz while decrying his house arrest said once again the government violated basic human and democratic codes.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has been put under house arrest last night. The restrictions will be imposed today in areas under six police stations in Srinagar that includes Khanyar, Maharaj Gunj, Nowhatta, Safakadal, Rainawari and Maisuma. Authorities said measure has been taken to ensure peace and law and order.
